1. Thou shall not have any other gods before me.
2. Thou shall not worship idols.
3. Thou shall not use God's name in vain.
4. Keep the Sabbath Day holy.
5. Honour your mother and father.
6. Thou shall not murder.
7. Thou shall not commit adultery.
8. Thou shall not steal.
9. Thou shall not lie.
10. Thou shall not covet.

The ten commandments are very good rules that help you with everyday life. They're pretty self-explanitory, but I think I can sum it up a little bit more.

1. Thou shall not have any other gods before me.
Don't have any other gods but God that you worship.

2. Thou shall not worship idols.
This doesn't just mean, 'don't worship granite statues that have weird carvings on them'. Idols can also be things that you do, or spend more time with that God. For example, someone could be a Christian, but could be addicted to their Nintendo DS, and spend way more time playing on that then talking to God. You need to be sure to put God first.

3. Thou shall not use God's name in vain.
This is one people disobey quite often. We often forget about this rule as we say, 'Oh My God!!!!' or "God! Why can't my kids be more obedient?!" or "Jesus Christ! I locked my keys in they boot of my car!" We need to remember this. Often, this becomes a habit, and we need to get out of it. Sometimes, we replace 'God' with 'gosh', or we make variations of the word. This is alright to do in my opinion, but we also need to be cautious of how we use the word.

4. Keep the Sabbath Day holy.
The Sabbath Day is  Saturday, the last day of the week, and we need to honour it and keep it Hold by resting, just as God did when he created........um.....creation.

5. Honour your mother and father.
Yes, whatever age you are, 2, 11, 35, 48, 56, 70, 80, 97..........We need to do this! It says in the bible that if you honour your mother and father, you will live long in the land that the Lord has given you, meaning heaven. And you do want to live in heaven, don't you?

6. Thou shall not murder.
Obviously, this is something we shouldn't do. No matter how annoyed, or frustrated we are, we should never, EVER murder.

7. Thou shall not commit adultery.
You need to be honest and faithful to your marriage promises. Most importantly, you need to be loyal to your partner.

8. Thou shall not steal.
No matter how small or big something is, you should never steal it. From shops, from people, it doesn't matter. Never steal.

9. Thou shall not lie.
My mother always tells me that even if it's the slightest thing you lie about, lying is still a sin. Remember! There is no such thing as a white lie.

10. Thou shall not covet.
Do not want something of someone else. Whether it's their talent, their possesions, their relationship with someone else, just don't do it.
